Well it's finally here Opening Night for Points At Cornwall Karting Club was Tuesday June 24. And after a few weeks of no point racing every drive and team was pumped up to get the points battle underway for 2008. And from what we have seen so far it is going to be one of the best seasons's Cornwall Karting Club has ever seen.

With some moisture in the last couple days made the track super fast like the drivers like it best. The Cornwall Karting Club runs every Tuesday from May to the end of August and a rain date of the following Thursday if mother nature decides to rain on a Tuesday evening. The karts run on a 1/8 mile oval slightly banked clay track located between turns 3 and 4 of the big track at Cornwall Motor Speedway. With Green flag dropping at 7pm.

On any night of racing people see the officials in the Yellow Shirts and see all the great work these people do but it's the unsung heroes behind the scene's that make each week a success. The people who water and pack the track on a regular basis through the week to give us great racing conditions each and every week.

Right down to the girls in the canteen who make sure everything is ready for when the gates open so you can enjoy great food and drinks the entire evening. And not to forget the girls in the main office and management who with out them we would not have the great racing we do at Cornwall Karting Club. And last but certainly not least is the sponsors from sponsors of the Karting Club to the sponsors of the race teams. So when you see one of the signs on the Karts or the speedway fences on Karting night. Don't forget these great people and business's when you are out and around the seaway valley as with out them we would not have the racing entertainment we do each week.

It was during hot laps with great conditions and a good car count was proof it was going to be a great night of racing for all. After hot laps teams and drivers were busy making the necessary adjustments to the race machines to get ready for the heat action and the start of the 2008 point season.

In feature action this week was just as every one had anticipated fast and close racing in every class as drivers wanted to start off the first night of points well. In the box stock class the 4D of Dominic Point takes home another feature win but not with out a great fight from the 52 of Tyler Ezard as Ezard was on Points bumper the last couple laps but could not manage to get by Point. The Rookie 1 feature was a battle between the 7 of Tristan Morel and the 24 of Justin Locke who wins the victory. Rookie Two action the 7B of Brandon Robinson fights his way through the field to take the checker flag and put himself in victory Lane. Jr. Sportsman this week seen the KC1 of Kacey Nevelle make his way into victory lane witch is not a unfamiliar place for Kacey as last season it seemed he was almost unstoppable but Tuesday made him show his skill's as he holds off a fast coming pack in the final laps.

With 15 or more karts in the Jr Sportsman 2 class they had to make 2 separate feature events. In the first feature it was the 4 of young Jasmin David who took the lead early one and never looked back taking her into victory lane once again. In the second feature it was the 1 of Justin Lallancette who took the checker flag and puts yet another feature win under his belt.

The box stock seen the 15x of Shane Pecore work his way from the back to the front giving him his first feature win at Cornwall Karting Club in 2008. Shane is a multi talented driver who runs the regular Stock Car Sportsman class regularly in Brockville and has won a feature race at Edelweiss Speedway a couple weeks back.

Next Week at Cornwall Karting Club it will be July 1st Reg Program, PM Promotions with the add on Mom's Race which will be a great night of fun and racing admission is $4.00 .

And this coming Sunday on the big track it will be June 29th the Summer Sizzler with the Green Mambo Jet Car Melt Down as well as a regular race program Sponsored by Pennzoil.
