Kennington would begin moving the Castrol Dodge forward quickly after the green flag waved and was just outside the top-ten by the end of lap eight. Now in touch the leaders there would be one more obstacle the team would have to overcome, heavy rain showers.
Conditions quickly worsened and the Castrol Dodge team made the switch to grooved rain tires at just the right time and allowed the driver to continue to move forward in the difficult conditions. Following a late race caution period the race restarted with a green/white/checker finish. Kennington pushed hard on the #4 and #84 car battling for the lead. At the end he would be just short but extremely pleased with the second place finish for his team. “It’s awesome” said the driver afterwards.
