Just after taking the checkered flag to mark his win in the second qualifying heat – Friday, May 30th at Autodrome Edelweiss – the skies opened-up and the remaining events on the program would be put-off until the following week. With double features for the DIRTcar 358 modifieds on the bill for Friday, June 6th Bobby Herrington was hoping for a solid run in each event and the chance to give himself a shot in the arm at the Cantley,
The 17 year-old racer from
Saturday, June 7th at Brockville Ontario Speedway saw some hot action everywhere. For the first time in 2008, weather wasn’t a factor. Bright sunshine and hot, humid conditions greeted an overflowing pit area – bolstered by the second appearance of the year for the Vintage Modifieds. Herrington ran well enough to easily qualify for the 30 lap DIRTcar 358 modified feature event and was working his way through the pack when his Bicknell chassis/Enders powered ride had a rear tire explode. The car limped to the pits under its own power, but was too extensively damaged to continue. For his efforts, Herrington was credited with an 18th place finish.

In the first week of their schedule, Bobby Herrington will be the subject of a feature length article in Frontenac This Week www.frontenacthisweek.com. He will also be featured as the Athlete of the Week in an upcoming issue of Kingston This Week www.kingstonthisweek.com and is waiting for confirmation of an appearance on the racing-related web-site www.dougsdirtdiary.com.
