NCATS: Strong Season First Half Run for Steckly Comes to End at Mosport

Bowmanville, ON,  Sunday August 10, 2008:   Scott Steckly's string of top four finishes, dating back to the last race of 2007 came to an end today on lap 125 when the No. 22 Racing/Tow Truck in a Box/Erb Group Dodge Avenger lost a motor.

Saturday's schedule of events was cancelled after practice as heavy rain showers moved into the area forcing a re-scheduled event for Sunday afternoon.  After time trials were cancelled early on Sunday due to a light rain shower, NASCAR decided to move right on to the Full Throttle 200 at noon.

As qualifying was cancelled, NASCAR mandate the line up start on 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series points putting Steckly's No. 22 Dodge to the front, a position he would hold for the first 125 laps. He had the field covered but they came up a bit short on the day. "The car was as good as it has been all year," stated Steckly after the race. "We had a good lead on the rest of the field and had put all but seven other cars down a lap before the motor let go.  It is disappointing for all of us but we'll be ready for Trois Rivieres next week."

Kerry Micks made a second to last lap move on Mark Dilley who had inherited the lead after Steckly's misfortune, to take the win with D. J. Kennington finishing in third.  Don Thomson Jr. was scored fourth and Peter Gibbons fifth.  Steckly now unofficially takes a 94 point lead over Thomson into event nine on the thirteen race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series circuit at Trois Rivieres next weekend.

The Full Throttle Energy Drink 200 will be broadcast on TSN on Sunday August 17th at Noon EST.
