Championship to be showcased at GP3R this weekend
A support race of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres is the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship Presented By Toyo Tires. The Championship’s sixth race weekend of the year will challenge GP3R’s tight and fast layout. The Championship will visit Trois Rivieres as part of eight different weekends in Quebec and Ontario.
The Championship is comprised of two Classes of racecars; Touring Class in the entry level Class where only minimal modifications are allowed while Super Touring Class has the powerful heavily modified racecars with engines up to 2.8 litres. Drivers can start out in Touring Class and develop their racecraft and then move up to Super Touring Class when they are ready for more power and speed. Both Classes compete at the same time on the track and challenge for supremacy in their Class which creates an amazing show. Touring Class racecars are easy to recognize because they have blue windshield banners and headlights while Super Touring Class has yellow windshield banners and headlights.
After five weekends of racing, Arek Wojciechowski of Ottawa, Ontario (8legs Racing) leads in Super Touring Class driving his BMW for only 16 points over Nigel Krikorian of Markham, Ontario (Krikorian Motorsports) in his Subaru followed by Etienne Borgeat of Montreal, Quebec (GT Racing) in his BMW. Each of the top three drivers has teammates in identical racecars. They will be challenged by more two-car teams including VMC (Honda), Fastco Racing (Hyundai) and Lombardi Racing (Honda).
Christian Raymond of St-Jerome, Quebec (TwoFast Racing) continues to lead in Touring Class driving his Mazda but by only 9 points over Andre Rapone of Thornhill, Ontario (Durabond Racing) driving his Acura followed by Anthony Rapone of Thornhill, Ontario (Durabond Racing) also in an Acura. The racing in Touring Class has been extremely close this year with only a few seconds separating the top drivers in qualifying and races.
The Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship Presented by Toyo Tires is sponsored by CSC Racing, Toronto TireCraft, Sigma Promotions and Mad Macs Communications + Graphics. The Championship is supported by Racing Radios, President Champagne, Leaf Racewear, RaceDV and Impact Custom Canopy.
The Championship features Canada’s Best Drivers Racing Today’s Hottest Touring Cars.

OCTANE MOTORSPORT & ADEX TO PARTNER AT LE GRAND-PRIX DE TROIS-RIVIÈRES
Montréal, Québec – The Octane Motorsport racing team announced today that ADEX Systems would provide support and sponsorship to the race team for the Trois-Rivières Grand-Prix, from August 15 to the 17.
“We are proud to have a quality partner like ADEX,” announced Alain Lauzière, Team Principal and Driver for Octane Motorsport. “Since we met the team for the first time, what impressed us the most is the team’s determination and the quality of their workmanship. Everything is executed with passion and without compromise, attributes that our company shares,” mentioned Mr. Rafael Bao, President of ADEX.
ADEX will take advantage of the Grand-Prix ambiance to invite a large contingent of clients and ADEX product users. “For us, it’s the perfect occasion to spend quality time with our customers; the event should reinforce our relationship with them while learning to know them better in a festive surrounding” commented Mr. François Corriveau, ADEX Marketing Director.
The Octane Motorsport team will not be lacking challenges during the Trois-Rivières weekend. After a perfect weekend during the last event at the Grand-Prix de Mirabel where the MINI Cooper won the 2 races after starting on the pole position, the Castrol Canadian Touring Car series officials announced that the MINI Cooper’s minimum weight would be raised by 100 pounds. “What’s worrisome”, mentions Louis-Philippe Allard, crew-chief for the team “is not the extra 100 pounds, but the 100 pounds in addition to the 80 pounds of reward weight that we’ll have to carry, based on our two second places and two victories since the beginning of the season. That’s a total of 180 additional pounds to carry on the track that is known to be the hardest on brake systems,” commented Allard. “But we’re ready, we have made the necessary modifications and we look forward to the challenge!”
