Humberstone Speedway race report and results: August 31, 2008

New Humberstone Speedway crowned its champions last Sunday night as Superior Petro Fuels presented its Labour Day Championship race. Mike Greene clinched the Weekend Warrior Championship from Sam Iftody, Greene who trailed Iftody by 8 points going into last night's race. In the Ministock Division it was Garnet Wilson who started the nights feature race with a 50 point advantage over 2nd place car Chris Laskey. The Niagara Auto Sales Pro 4 Truck Division was clinched by the Flyin' Fireman Doug Banner now a 2 time champions winning his first championship in the 2006 Season. Finally in the Cosco Haulage Sportsman it was the young gun Tyler McPherson who secured his first ever sportsman championship.

In the Sportsman division it was James Michael Friesen who started in the 23rd starting spot and worked his way thru the field to collect the checkered flag on the last lap taking the win from Port Colborne native Jeff Leggett. Early in the race the 8s and the 99c were leading but some contact between the two seen the both spin out and have to go tail, which than allowed the 3 car of Leggett to take the lead. Top 5 were James Michael Friesen, Jeff Leggett, Greg Panunte, Mike Bowman, and Paul Gaboury. (Heat Winners were Jeff Leggett, Kevin Sharpe, Rick Farraway, and Justin Sharp)

The Streetstocks were on hand last night for a non point's race Bill Hogue was on fire last night (Literally) for his 9th win of the 2008 season.

Hogue who easily won the 20 lap event, while the real battle was between the 1J of Jason Fontaine and the 16B of Brett Robins, but Fontaine getting a break when the 16B of Robins lost it by himself in turn 4 handing the 2nd place finish to Fontaine. The 31jr of Michael Bosse had a good race with a solid 3rd place finish. Top 5 were Bill Hogue, Jason Fontaine, Michael Bosse, Bill Bleich Jr, and Barry Blanchard. (Heat Winners were Jason Fontaine and Bill Hogue)

In the Niagara Auto Sales Pro 4 Truck Division it was the "Flyin Frenchman" Andy Imbeault who snatched the win away from the back flip king Kevin Aube, with a photo finish. Top 5 Andy Imbeault, Kevin Aube, Rick Beales, Doug Banner, Rick Book. (Heat Winners were Andy Imbeault and Doug Banner)

And last but not least the Weekend Warrior Pure Stock division it was Sean Keus with his 2nd win of the season beating out Mike Greene to take the win. Top 5 were Sean Keus, Mike Greene, Jason Alpine, Sam Iftody and Michelle McPherson. (Heat winners Rob Goulden and Sam Iftody)
