Best wishes to Greg Wilkins

(To most of the world, Greg Wilkins is the head of Barrick Gold. To the Canadian motorsports community... he's a racer. Yesterday, Wilkins, 52, suddenly stepped down as head of Barrick due to an undisclosed "serious medical condition." We wish Greg the best as he faces this challenge.)

Barrick CEO takes medical leave; Munk steps in

Barrick Gold Corp.'s 80-year-old chairman and founder Peter Munk stepped in to the top executive role at the world's largest gold company yesterday after a serious medical condition forced chief executive officer Greg Wilkins to take a leave of absence.
The Toronto company did not disclose the nature of Mr. Wilkins' illness. Barrick said Mr. Wilkins, 52, “has a serious medical condition that will require his absence as he undergoes further tests, examinations and treatment.”
Mr. Munk, a legendary entrepreneur who started Barrick 25 years ago, will assume the CEO position on an interim basis.
“On behalf of our board of directors and employees, we sincerely wish Greg well as he and his family go through a difficult period of uncertainty and challenge. Greg has our full support and deserves utmost respect for his privacy at this time. He is a valued friend and colleague – a tremendous chief executive officer,” Mr. Munk said in a statement....
