CASC-OR and TOYO TIRES announce the 2008 CASC-OR TOYO TIRES CHAMPIONSHIP

The Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs - Ontario Region (CASC-OR) is the official sanctioning body for motorsports in Ontario. There are currently over 30 clubs affiliated with CASC-OR with 3,000 members who compete in such racing disciplines as Autoslalom, Solosprint and Road Racing. TOYO TIRES is a proud supporter of Canada's racing community, and many CASC-OR racers have been competing on TOYO PROXES RA-1 race compound tires for several years.

This year TOYO TIRES has officially teamed up with CASC-OR to launch their newest race compound tire, the PROXES R888 to Ontario's racing community. Together they have formed the CASC-OR TOYO TIRES CHAMPIONSHIP, which uses the PROXES RA-1 and PROXES R888 as the series spec tire.

The TOYO TIRES Championship is a contingency competition open to any racer competing in a CASC-OR Autoslalom, Solosprint or Road Racing Provincial Championship event using eligible TOYO PROXES RA-1s or PROXES R888 tires. The top 3 eligible finishers and the highest placed eligible rookie in each division will be crowned the winners of the CASC-OR TOYO TIRES CHAMPIONSHIP and will receive trophies at the CASC-OR's Annual Awards Gala.

The PROXES R888 was chosen as the spec tire for the CASC-OR TOYO TIRES CHAMPIONSHIP because of its durable, special tread rubber compound that maintains optimum temperatures for maximum handling capabilities, even during extended periods of competition. Its balance of grip and treadwear has made it an excellent choice for a broad spectrum of racers. The tire is also the spec tire for the 2008 Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship (CCTCC).

Offering the PROXES RA-1 and R888 as a CASC-OR series spec tire levels the playing field amongst competitors. In CASC-OR competitions, cars are grouped in classes based on their performance, but competitors are free to run their choice of tires. Tires that have higher grip levels tend to wear off faster when compared with other tires that don?t offer as much grip. As a result, the choice of tire used can significantly affect a racers' lap times. In the CASC-OR TOYO TIRES CHAMPIONSHIP, with all competitors using the PROXES RA-1 and R888 tires, there will be no tire advantage and driver skill will play a much larger role in determining the winner of the competition.
