Humberstone Speedway report May 25, 2008

PORT COLBORNE, ON - The 5 of Kevin Aube was back in the winners circle on John Puhl Memorial Night this past Sunday at The New Humberstone Speedway. Aube started in the 8th position and slowly worked through the field in the 15 lap event.

By lap 11 he was wrestling with the K51 of Ed McNamara and the 29 of Doug Banner. All three trucks were in a neck and neck battle. Eventually the 5 would make an exiting pass on the 29 sending the K51 to 3rd. Top 5 were Kevin Aube, Doug Banner, Ed McNamara, Don Lessard and Scott Sherk. (Heat winners were Ed McNamara and Kevin Aube)

Garnet Wilson finally seen victory lane in the Ministock Division after two "oh so close" races within the past weeks. It wasn't James Small that the 71 of Wilson had to steal the first place spot from it was Aaron Wiley in the 7w. Wiley who led the race from lap 5 managed to stop the 71 from taking over the race until lap 14. On lap 14 the two cars were neck and neck, coming out of turn three it looked like Wiley had it in the bag when the 71 went a bit too high. But than the 7w of Wiley also went high, making it an exciting finish. This win would be Garnet Wilson first feature win. Top 5 were Garnet Wilson, Aaron Wiley, Len Wiley, Chris Laskey and James Small. (Heat winners were Chris Laskey and Garnet Wilson)

"Silly" Billy Hogue captured his second victory of the 2008 season in the Brians Tire Repair Streetstock Division. Hogue in the 48H machine had a good door to door race with Jason Fontaine in the 1J and the 2 of Alan Sleight. Current points leader Brad Sheehan had a tough night, being caught up in two cautions and finishing in 8th place. Rick Beales also had a bad night with a transmission problem. Top 5 were Bill Hogue, Jason Fontaine, Alan Sleight, Jaren Israel and Ron Kingsbury. Heat Winners were Jaren Israel and Jason Fontaine.

Mike Bowman managed to lead the race from green to checker in the Cosco Haulage Sportsman division. Only two cautions for the entire sportsman race, made it a very quick and painless event to watch, unlike prior races caution after caution was flying out. B.J Willard had a good run and placed the second position, the 38P of Rob Pratt, who had won the two other races this season, captured a third place finish. Top 5 were Mike Bowman, B.J. Willard, Rob Pratt, Jeff Leggett and Zack Zumpe. (Heat winners were Mike  Bowman, Paul Gaboury and B.J Willard)

The vintage cars were on hand tonight to show spectators what racing used to be like Lawry Siemans won the 12 lap event. (Heat winner was Darryl Bray)
