NCATS: Consistency for White in season opener at Cayuga

HAMILTON, ON - The Rz Racing team continued to show signs of consistency on Saturday night at the "Crown Jewel 200" in Cayuga, Ontario. The first stop on the 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series was a success for Jason White and his crew.

After starting 19th in the 23 car field, White gained 11 positions to finish 8th on the lead lap, and captured the top finishing rookie of the race; as well as the "PowerAde Power Move Of The Race" award. This is given to the driver who advances the most positions in the race.

"The car was awesome tonight, and Jason is coming into his own as a driver in this series, said crew chief Brian Uptigrove. " This team worked very hard to put a car on the track that can be competitive, we owe big thanks to McColl Racing for helping with the set up of the chassis, it really made the difference tonight."

Jason gives most of the credit to his team, "I have one of the best teams in Canada, we had four or five pit stops tonight and the boys never let me down, they got me fixed up and back on the track without loosing any positions; being such an ultra competitive series, we can't afford to make mistakes on pit stops, and on this night we were perfect," said White, "This gives me the confidence to concentrate on the task at hand, which is drive as hard as I can and bring the car home in one piece."

The next stop on the NASCAR Canadian Tire series schedule is in St Eustache, Quebec for the "KODAK 250" on May 31st. “We are going into this next race with some confidence, but are also being careful not to get overzealous,” states Uptigrove. “ Keeping attention to detail is the key, and that’s where our focus will be this weekend.”

TSN will nationally televise 13 one-hour broadcasts – one for each of the Series’ 13 races. Coverage gets underway on May 30 at 12 midnight ET (9:00 p.m. pacific) with the Crown Jewel 200, the first race of the season, taking place on the speedy 5/8-mile oval at Cayuga International Speedway.

In a sport where more sponsor dollars equals more speed the RZ Racing Team is thankful for all of their marketing partners leading into this years NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
