Fischer Quickest at Daytona in ARCA Sunday Testing

On Friday, we mentioned that Andrew Ranger was taking part in his first-ever test at Daytona Int'l Speedway, in an ARCA Car. Western Canadian contributor Rod Ormon of justrurnleft.ca was nice enough to send along an update (and a photo) on the exploits of another DIS 'rookie', Ryan Fisher, who hails from Surrey, British Columbia. And see the bottom for a note from Pierre Bourque, who also impressed in ARCA testing at Daytona on the weekend. Looks like it's going to be a fun Speedweeks for Canadian watchers.
Thanks to Rod and Pierre for the updates!!

Fischer Quickest at Daytona in Sunday Testing
Surrey, BC driver Ryan Fischer was at the ARCA RE/MAX testing at Daytona Speedway this weekend in preparation for the Feb 2008 ARCA race, part of the SpeedWeeks events for the 50th running of the Daytona 500.
He was again driving the #25 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for Venturini Motorsports which he campaigned at Gateway (Chicago) and Talladega in the ARCA RE/MAX series in 2007.
Fischer was 20th on Friday and improved to 10th fastest (178.816 mph) of 65 entries on Saturday in single car testing. On Sunday, he was quickest in the morning single car testing with a 49.558sec 181.605 mph lap.
Also part of the test along with the usual ARCA regulars was Dario Franchitti, former F1 driver Scott Speed and Canadian Andrew Ranger.
Fischer ran the ARCA West Late Model Series last season and finished 2nd in a NEWALTA Late Model race at SunValley Speedway in Vernon, BC in 2006.

###

From Pierre Bourque
Greetings,
A quick update, I was 12th fastest overall of 60 drivers @ the Daytona 3-day stock car test that ended today. My speed was 180 MPH average, faster than Indy 500 winner Franchitti, NASCAR hotshoe Erik Darnell and even my teammate, Scott Speed, the Formula One driver!
We're back here in early January, then on to Talladega two weeks later. Onwards !

- Pierre
