Cayden Lapcevich Update

From Jeff Lapcevich / Fastline Motorsports

Cayden Lapcevich Wraps Up Point Titles in Three Classes

With one event remaining in the Region 4 Championship Series, quarter midget racer Cayden Lapcevich has secured the top spot in the nine race series thanks to a summer long string of top three finishes. With three Jr. Honda A-Main wins, seven Jr. Stock A-Main wins, and four Light Mod A-Main wins Cayden can rest easy as the competition battles for the number two spot at the Columbus closer the first weekend of October.

Along with the wins, Cayden’s worst finish all year was third place twice in Jr. Honda. His consistency and ability to recover after a setback kept him on top of the standings all season long.

The series counts the top eight finishes of the nine race schedule towards the points total and rain outs can not be used as a drop. Cayden was optimistic going into round 8 at his home track in Waterford, MI September 13 after a successful test. He hoped to finish strong enough in each class to claim the Championships before the final event of the year. Starting the A-Main in Jr. Stock and Light Mod would be enough to claim those titles however the Jr. Honda battle was closer with just a five point margin over second place Parker Smith of Lansing, MI. Smith’s hopes were dashed as relentless rains fell and the racing was cancelled leaving only one race to make up the deficit which would not be enough to overcome the strong season by Lapcevich.

Although it was not the ideal way to clinch a title, it must be noted that Cayden’s performance over the first seven races put him in position to take advantage of such an occasion.

Reflecting on his season which also included four Grands Titles, three State Race victories, and several track records the fourth grader from Caistor Central School was excited to have won his final races as a Jr. and looks forward to competing next year in Sr. Stock, Light Mod, and Light B divisions.

He is also excited to see his younger brother, four year old Treyten make his debut next month in the Novice Class during the Columbus, OH event.

Cayden is thankful for his support from Fastline Motorsports, B&J Electric, and Tim Hortons.
