South Buxton... rain cancels show again

SOUTH BUXTON  - Now even the rainout dates are getting rained out. South Buxton Raceway`s makeup race date on Saturday was postponed by rain, the eighth rainout of the 2008 season. South Buxton added Sept. 6 and 13 to the schedule as extra non-points race nights because of the seven rainouts during the season. Saturday`s postponement will not be made up. The track will sit idle on Sept. 20.

The season ends on Saturday, Sept. 27, with a big double feature - the fourth annual Castrol Canadian UMP Late Model Shootout and first Advantage Warehouse UMP Modified Fall Blowout.

More than 70 race teams from across Ontario and the Great Lakes states are expected for the two classes. Gates open at 2 p.m., the grandstand at 3 p.m. with hot laps scheduled to begin around 5 p.m. Time trials and heat races will follow, leading up to the 40-lap Late Model and the 35-lap Modified À`Main features.

The total purse is $35,000 (US), with the Late Model winner pocketing $6,000 and the Modified winner $2,500. The rain day is Sunday, Sept. 28, starting at 1 p.m. South Buxton Raceway will have several cars on display at the Real Canadian Superstore at the North Maple Mall in Chatham, on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Drivers will be on hand from 1-3 p.m. to meet fans. South Buxton is helping the Real Canadian Superstore with its President`s Choice Children`s Charities barbecue.
