Kawartha Speedway 2008 - Going Out With a Bang

By Jim Clarke, Kawartha Speedway PR/Clarke Motorsports Communications

The clock is ticking.  The season is winding down.  Kawartha Speedway will wrap-up their 2008 campaign with a pair of marquee events.

Friday, September 19th is the final point paying event for the track’s 4 weekly divisions.  Also on the show will be the final race of the Summer Sizzler Series, featuring the top Late Model drivers from Kawartha and Capital City Speedway.  Kawartha’s Brandon Watson currently leads the tour points by an 8 point margin over Larry Jackson.  North Gower, Ontario’s Ken Baird – a regular at Capital City Speedway – is 3rd.  The 100 lap event could very well determine the series champion.

The OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Models have been added to the program as well, making-up for a Friday, August 8th rainout.  Jeff Hanley is currently one of the hottest drivers on the OSCAAR tour, having scored a win in the 10th annual Don Biederman Memorial event.

Pit gates will open at 2:00 Friday, September 19th.  Spectator areas will be available at 4:00 – at the same time as rotating on-track practise sessions are scheduled to begin.  Racing starts at 6:00, an hour earlier than Kawartha’s regularly scheduled start time.

Saturday, September 27th Kawartha Speedway plays host to the Ontario Dodge Dealers 250.  The season finale of the 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series will mark the second consecutive year that the popular 3/8th mile oval at Fraserville, Ontario will host the event that crowns the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Champion.  A full schedule of the day’s events can be found at www.kawarthaspeedway.com.

Kawartha Speedway is located on county road 28, just south of Peterborough – near the intersections of highway 7 and the 35/115. Tickets for all Kawartha Speedway events are available via Ticket Break.  For details, see www.ticketbreak.com.
