KARTING: Reid Arnold - Florida Winter Tour

January 9, 2008 - Keswick, Ontario - The 2008 racing season starts this weekend and before the first green flag drops, twelve year old Reid Arnold will already have plenty of laps on record. The Keswick, Ontario native has been in Florida for the past week getting ready for his first full season in the very competitive Rotax Junior class. Reid, along with numerous other teams and drivers has been testing at the Homestead-Miami Speedway kart track where the 2008 Florida Winter Tour is set to commence this weekend.

While Reid has raced in the Rotax previously, 2008 will be his first full season behind the wheel of these powerful 2-cycle race karts and he is hoping for a run at a championship season. Reid Racing manager Anne Arnold commented, "With Reid only turning twelve in August of last year, we could not run in a number regular series early in the year. We were however, able to run in a few club events and some races in a series in Quebec." She continued, "this helped us get our bearings and become comfortable with the kart as far as setup which is quite different from the 4-cycle classes we have been concentrating on."

Reid had some good results in the Rotax last year including a number of podium finishes. The goal is to take that success forward in 2008. In addition to Rotax, Reid will continue to run in the Honda Junior class this season in Ontario.

Reid will be on track for competition this weekend starting Friday, January 11 with practice and qualifying for the first round in the Florida Winter Tour. News and race results will be posted on Reid's website throughout the weekend. The team is also taking this opportunity to launch the newest version of reidracing.ca
