World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Chili Bowl Report

Tulsa, OK (January 13, 2008) - The 22nd Annual Dodge Chili Bowl wrapped up on Saturday, with a number of Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series drivers taking part over the course of the day which saw 21 different feature events take to the track, culminating with the 50-lap A-Feature.
 
Terry McCarl turned in a strong run, racing his way from the C-Main into the main event. He began the night by winning the second C-Main and racing his way from the back of the second B-Main into the third spot to earn one of the 24 starting spots in the A-Feature. He was caught up in an accident just before the halfway mark of the 50-lap contest ending his night. The native of Altoona, Iowa would wind up 19th in his second Chili Bowl appearance.
 
Also participating in the A-Feature, which was won by Damion Gardner, was Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series car owners, Tony Stewart who was eighth and Kasey Kahne who was 22nd.
 
Shane Stewart turned in an impressive performance in the first C-Main, taking the final transfer spot to tag the back of the first B-Main. The 2005 World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award winner would wind up 12th in the first B-Main, in his first trip to the event in a number of years. Tim McCreadie, the 2006 World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion and Chili Bowl winner also was in the first B-Main and came home 16th.
 
Danny Lasoski, the 2001 World of Outlaws champion finished seventh in the second B-Main, just one spot short of transferring into the main event. Also in the second B-Main was three-time World of Outlaws champion and four-time Chili Bowl winner Sammy Swindell, who was caught up in an accident, ending his night in 19th.
 
Randy Hannagan, the 1995 World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year was 14th in the first C-Main, while Joey Saldana, who won 13 times with the World of Outlaws in 2007 was 12th in the second C-Main.
 
Chad Kemenah, the 2006 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award winner was 13th in the first D-Main, with World of Outlaws Late Model Series star Josh Richards one spot behind him. Richards finished third in the first E-Main to tag the back of the D-Main. The second D-Main found Sam Hafertepe Jr. finishing in the 10th spot.
 
Jason Meyers, who won five times with the World of Outlaws in 2007 and was fifth in championship points, was seventh in the second E-Main on Saturday, after having trouble in the Friday qualifying night program.
 
Justin Henderson won the second H-Main on Saturday to earn a spot in the second G-Main, where he wound up eighth in his third consecutive appearance at the Chili Bowl.
 
Shane Carson, who heads Industry Relations for the World of Outlaws came home sixth in the first I-Main, with Brian Carter the Chief Executive Officer/Chief Financial Officer of the World Racing Group finishing 13th in the second K-Main.
 
The 30th anniversary Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season begins on February 8, 2008 with the 37th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.
