CARPENTIER PACES PRACTICE

Patrick Carpentier, driving the #10 Valvoline Dodge prepped by Gillette/Evernhmam Motorsports, paced the second Sprint Cup practice with a fast lap of 48.348 seconds, 186.150 miles per hour. Carpentier was second fastest in the first test session with a lap of 48.313 seconds, 186.285 miles per hour.

Carpentier's teammates, Kasey Kahne and Elliott Sadler, were 27th and 35th respectively in the second test session.

Fellow Canadian Jacques Villeneuve posted the fifth fastest lap in the first practice at 48.434 seconds, 185.820 miles per hour.

"I like that," laughed Carpentier when notified he was second fastest in the first practice. "It's very positive. We've got to duplicate it tomorrow."

Carpentier estimates he will need to qualifying inside the top eight in order to lock in a spot in the 50th running of the Daytona 500.
