NCATS: Kennington back with Castrol for a 15th year

TORONTO, ON (February 12, 2008) – When Castrol first sponsored DJ Kennington’s stock car – way back in 1994 – the now experienced racer was barely of age to drive on Ontario’s roads. In mid-February, Kennington and Castrol signed a sponsorship contract to extend their relationship for an astounding 15th season.

For 2008, Kennington’s focus will once again be the prestigious NASCAR Canadian Tire Series where he finished second in the points in ’07 on the strength of two wins (both at Barrie Speedway) and eight top-five finishes.

Marsha McLaughlin, Communications Manager for Wakefield Canada Inc., the company that distributes Castrol lubricants Canada, is optimistic that DJ will win the overall points championship this season. But regardless of the outcome, she knows their sponsorship of Kennington is one the company can be proud of no matter where he finishes.

“DJ is always in the race and we can count on the 17 Castrol Dodge to be competitive every outing. That’s the way it has been for 15 years!”

In addition to his NASCAR Canadian Tire Series duties, the St. Thomas, ON racer will be busy again south of the border driving in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (formerly Busch Series) for team owner and fellow Canadian Randy MacDonald.

Castrol will sponsor Kennington’s car in this summer’s Nationwide Series NAPA 200 race at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, in August.

Discussing his long-running relationship with Castrol, Kennington said, “Castrol has been there since the very beginning. I am incredibly proud of our relationship and what we have accomplished together.”
