Gordon Lowe Celebration of Life Announcement

Gordon Lowe, Vice President, Sales and Marketing (Brodie) died while vacationing with his family in Tobago, West Indies, on January 1st, 2008 losing a lengthy battle with heart disease, diabetes and more recently, multiple cancers.

Born in Scotland on December 15, 1944, Gord’s family immigrated to Canada in 1949. Gord is survived by his wife, Karen Brodie, their children Arron Lowe and Sara Brodie, and his mother Mary.

Gord started his career in Sales in the sixties selling tea. He held sales and sales management positions at Peel Bearings, Kenscott Limited and Canross Environmental Services before joining Brodie eleven years ago. He will be greatly missed both personally and professionally. While he was a member of the Brodie Computes team for only 11 of the company’s 19 years, he provided the company’s founding vision.

Gord was also an avid car racer, racing in the Formula Ford 1600 series and in the Vintage Club series with his Lotus Super 7. The racing communities have established memorial websites celebrating his racing activities. http://www.varac.com/ and http://www.geocities.com/ontariof1600challenge/Gord.html

There will be a Celebration of Gord’s Life (a Gordo-bration) on Sunday, February 17th from 11 am to 4 pm at the Guelph Place Banquet Hall, 492 Michener Road, Guelph. This is to be an informal affair in keeping with Gord's personality so if you plan to attend, we invite you to wear your loudest, most colourful shirt as part of the Gordo dress code. At 12:30pm General Lew Mackenzie, David Clubine, Jeremy Sale, Barb Cummings, Arron Lowe and Karen Brodie will share a few memories of Gord with you.

As refreshments will be served we would like to get an idea of numbers, so if you plan to attend, please email jeremyis@rogers.com or call Jeremy Sale at (905) 276-2744. You can visit and share your memories at any time between 11 and 4 of course.

If you wish to donate to a charity, Gord was an avid supporter of K9 Helpers, c/o Dogs in the Park, 490 York Road, Guelph, ON, N1E 6V1. The website for this group is http://www.k9helpers.org/. Send donations to 490 York Rd. rather than other addresses listed on the site. K9 Helpers is in the process of getting their charitable donation number.

Additionally, Gord was (and the family remains) very supportive of Rick Doktor’s Ride to Conquer Cancer in support of research at the Princess Margaret Hospital http://www.conquercancer.ca/goto/rickdoktor.
